To the moon? That’s nothing.

This April, US employees of the STRATACACHE family of companies, including members of the Scala team, opted to make a real difference to the life of a family in need through long time philanthropic partner, Chive Charities. This campaign was different from any of our previous Chive Charities campaigns, it was 100% in the hands of our STRATACACHE family to make this recipient’s wish become a reality. The best part, we were able to deliver the great news in a live video call with the family and our Chive Charities partners.
But before we jump to the end of the story, let us tell you a bit about Envera. In 2012, Envera was diagnosed with the rare genetic condition, H-abc Leukodystrophy, at Children’s Hospital in Chicago, IL. This condition affects less than 200 worldwide and is a progressive degenerative disorder. The condition impacts the white matter of the brain limiting muscle development, mobility, and other basic functions. H-abc Leukodystrophy is a terminal illness with no known cure. To accommodate Enevra’s medical needs, attend her specialist appointments and access family activities beyond their home, Envera’s family were in critical need of reliable and accessible transportation. They turned to Chive Charities with a request for a grant to provide them with an Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Accessible Van from fellow Chive Charities partner, AMS Vans. Through the generosity of the STRATACACHE team, and working with the platform PTOExchange, $45,000 was raised in 48 hours, covering the complete cost of the much needed van.
Members of the Scala and STRATACACHE team working in the United States were able to donate unused paid time off in exchange for a dollar-for-dollar match from the company and Founder & CEO Chris Riegel. Team members also had the option to make a monetary contribution by credit card.
“Chive Charities is the real deal, and Chive supporters can see that their contributions make a real, direct impact. It doesn’t get any better than that. I am so proud of the team to have contributed the way that they have and humbled to know the difference that this will make for Envera and her family” said Chris Riegel, CEO, STRATACACHE.
STRATACACHE has worked with Chive Charities on five previous campaigns, altogether raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for families in need. And of course, don’t miss the video of the big moment on April 16th, 2021 when, without a dry eye in the house, we were able to share the best news ever with Envera and her Mom, Merjem!
