This is my Scala blog debut and something of a guest star appearance as I stand in for Darren who was unable to make the Peerless-AV event last week. Scala joined about 20 AV exhibitors at Lord’s Cricket Ground at what was our first in-person UK trade event for over 18 months.
We didn’t really know what to expect – what would be the appetite for people to be out on the show floor and maybe even shake hands? I am happy to say that there was a good turn out to the event and, with hand sanitizer at the ready, we met new contacts, caught up with partners and shared some of our favourite Scala digital solutions.
The world of AV is something of a small expert community and it was excellent to catch up with as many UK AV colleagues as we did and see what they had to show the event attendees. It was also fantastic to meet new people, many of whom knew of Scala but who did not know the ways in which our business and offering has grown since becoming a member of the STRATACACHE team. Not ‘Just a digital signage company’ as a visitor described us, we are a full solution provider able to work with the massive suite of technology held under the STRATACACHE umbrella to offer a flexible and scalable service that I feel is impossible to match. But then I would say that wouldn’t I?
We showed a lot of digital solutions geared towards retail at Peerless-AV such as Lift and Learn, Shelf Edge solutions (interactive and non-interactive) as well as our interactive mirror display and QR activations. These solutions engaged those that visited our stand (especially the wine tasting display) but they are not limited to retail and could work well in other sectors such as hospitality, travel, healthcare and entertainment.
Another part of the two days that I really enjoyed, in addition to meeting new people and the chocolate brownie included in the lunch bag, was the chance to spend some proper time with my colleagues. Three members of the Scala Sittard team travelled over to take part in the event and I got the chance to talk to them face to face, as well as members of the Scala UK team that I normally only see across a virtual meeting room. It was reinvigorating to talk to teammates and watch them interact with the visitors to our stand. We’re a good group: optimistic, pragmatic, helpful and fun to be around.
Ultimately I left the event hopeful – the response to our stand was positive, and it felt like we are emerging back into some sort of normalcy with individuals and brands keen to meet new people, explore technology and build business. If you weren’t able to make Peerless-AV, get in touch and I, or another member of the team will take you through what we had to show. Scala will also be at MPV in Paris next month and, if you’re able to make it, it would be great to see you there.
