Are we able to span the IC3 player over the 2 outputs of a DualHead video card?
Using 2 outputs of a DualHead video card with IC3 Player
IC3 R4a will function fine on a "2x output video card" without anything special
*IF*:
(1) The card has a single graphics chip and a single frame buffer
and it is configured to operate in a single frame buffer mode.
Chips/cards which can do this are: nVidia GeForce2MX, nVidia
GeForce4MX, Matrox G550, ATI RADEON VE.
These cards when configured for dual output report as a _single_
video surface for both outputs: 1280x480; 1600x600; 2048x768; u.s.w.
(2) IC3 R4a will *NOT* function in "DirectX full screen mode" for cards that:
Have multiple graphics chips/separate frame buffers OR can
logically partition their frame buffers into separate frame buffers and
are configured in such a mode:
Matrox G550; ENSO, MVP; Appian Jeronomo Pro & Rushmore; PNY's
GeForce4-Quadro boards. IC3 R4a *will* function in "DirectX in a
Borderless Window" mode on these cards. [see the R4a README.TXT for the
appropriate DESKTOP_... MMOS.INI variables] When in "Borderless Windows
on the Desktop" mode IC3R4a can also run using multiple independant
graphics cards--e.g. one AGP card and three PCI graphics boards for a
4X display on the cheap!
LIMITATIONS: CPU/video memory bus requirements increase
substancailly--e.g. a 2X Scala Display can often require 200%+ the CPU
resources. "Hardware Overlay" is generally ONLY possible on the primary
display/video surface. SO: "Full Screen/MultiDisplay Software MPEG-2
Playback" is generally limited to very high end systems. Dual CPU
systems are
generally best.
