Why doesn't Scala have advanced features to create graphics or edit photographs like Photoshop?
There are plenty of other types of software devoted solely to editing graphics, and photographs. These products include Adobe Photoshop and Corel Draw. They are specialty products designed expressly for that function. Scala's Designer is an authoring system works nicely in combination with Adobe's Photoshop and in fact ships with a plugin to allow you to export your Photoshop layouts directly in Photoshop. So the two types of products are actually quite complementary.
There are quite a few features that are common to both types of products. At Scala, we try and give you easy access to the most often used features so that you don't normally have to switch back and forth between Photoshop and Designer. Do you main layout in Photoshop, export it to Designer, add the animations and variables, then you can easily make small tweaks directly in Designer, which really speeds up the process of making updates. You know...the client always seems to change their minds at the last minute. With Designer, you can make those small changes very easily and very quickly. If it's a big change...just go back to Photoshop and re-export it. You've got the best of both worlds.
