Scala Software Delivers Content to New Digital Broadcast Solution for ITV Nightscreen.
Fully Schedulable and Integrated Software Suite Drives Community Programming
LONDON, ENGLAND - The latest digital broadcast in Britain is powered by Scala InfoChannel, delivering computer generated content to 'Nightscreen' every morning on the UK terrestrial channel, ITV1.
Using multimedia and video playback from Scala's InfoChannel 3 visual communications suite along with the latest in digital output (601 SDI) from Farnham-based G2 Video Systems, MIT specified, configured, supplied, installed all equipment and then trained staff at ITV's London (southbank) Network Transmission Centre.
The solution is based around broadcast systems, utilizing RAID and dual power, to ensure the maximum resilience. The system provides an entirely digital signal from source to output. By using G2 Systems' Televisor 3D24, the final graphics output is a direct representation of the actual pixels generated in Scala's Player 3 field-proven 24/7 reliable and media-rich broadcast software.
In addition, the playout of the InfoChannel content is triggerable by GPI. This means that ITV can start the playout of the content at precisely the right moment, as each night the timing of Nightscreen changes to accommodate over-runs from other programming.
Also incorporated into the programming mix is MPEG-2 video, which InfoChannel 3 delivers in fullscreen at full broadcast quality.
