Hi Mike,
Thanks for the reply. I will forward my questions to the link you posted. I also took care of my pics. I thought it was published somewhere... Where is the "TV Guide" then?
As for IC3, I'l read more on it. This was just an idea I had to open possibilities to the client, but right now, the main product he wants to create is a CD-Rom multimedia presentation (autorun).
So I'm exploring the final formats: CD-Rom, DVD, multi-networks web broadcasts, etc. I understand ICD would be enough for now, and we can always upgrade later?
[quote] From the application that you describe, it sounds like you could use IC3 and an Player to do your client reviews and approvals of work without ever doing any public publication of a Scala Channel. [\quote]
Are you saying I can use my web site as a "live" broadcast in real-time?
Thanks again, and I'll be checking with you later...

Hi,
Scala worked great! I was able to download the InfoChannelDesigner and from within the program, I opened my *.sca file, resaved it as a *.scb file and VOILA!
The client is happily impressed with the results and possibilities, and so I'm just waiting to see what he's going to decide as far as buying it.
A few observations out of my experience:
1- This site is not intuitively built, it's packed with info, but visually, it's really complicated to find what you're looking for. I would gain being built with newbies in mind... :O) and have the info gathered where it is useful, with obvious download links, not scattered all the way through.
2- Setting it up with the usual menus would greatly help: Products, Downloads, Tech Support, Tutorials, Links, Contact, etc
3- I kept reading about channels being published on this site, but even after extensive search in the Forum, I could find only one link, and no basic informations.
4- I have published my channel (can't we officially all agree to call this "publishing my presentation on a web page?") because as I struggled with trying to save it and post it so my client would be able to look at it, I went through that routine.
HOWEVER, my client did NOT want his copyrighted pictures on the net, and I'll be in trouble if I can't get this presentation off the web...
But again, no way to find out where it is, or how I can take it off... The Road Signs here are greatly missing...
For a fee, I'd be happy to help... :O)
5- It would be awesome if there would be a way where we could skip at a point in the presentation and start from there, with the music following. How do people fine-tune a one-hour presentation? You have to sit through the whole thing to finally see if the music and picture are synchronized.
Imagine you're trying to create a busting synch with music and images changing quickly, and you have to correct the times in micro-seconds... Would you want to wait through 25 minutes of unrelated work every single time to see if your change worked?
But by and large, this is one great program and I can't wait to see if we could use it to even broadcast simultaneously to various museums or culture houses all over the world using Scala.

Hi Paul,
Can you lead me to the link you used? Nothing happens for me.
I also solved my problems by downloading the InfoChannelDesigner, from there was able to create a bundled file.
Andre
That was quite a day... but I'm getting there thanks to your help, guys!
Now, I zipped a folder containing all the files needed for the presentation (40 files, it's a demo), with the mp3 file for music. I posted it on my site.
Someone wants to look at it but they don't have iPLay installed, and when I myself come on the site to download, there are no links that work...
I'm stomped again...
Andre
HI Paul,
Thanks for trying to help. I encountered the errors at different times. Like right now, I'm typing on this forum, and so I alt-tab to go back to Scala and look for the screen I was in when it happened, and right away, Scala froze. I mean ther'es an hour glass running, but I can't do anything.
I guess the codecs could be anything I've installed to play DVD, and all the different avi/mpeg/qt/rm etc.
Right now, I was able to finish my 30 sec demo, but from here, how do I create the final file is my next worry... I'm looking for an option that will help me publish it, and send a copy via email, or have the customer download it.
If it works, and I also have to determine which version of Scala he will need to get: IP or the one at $650? He wants to create a CD of this, maybe even a DVD, which could be shown on screen of any sizes....
I love this program! Just need a few adjustements I think in terms of manipulating images and their attributes, as well as when you have text on a page. It's pretty insane to try and synchronize their order of appearance and behavior... :O)
Oh, I have a Pentium 4, 1.8 gigs, 512 RAM (the special one), Maxtor HD 30 gigs, Miniman Delta 44 pro sound card. At times, the effects create a static noise... anyone has that, and is it only local, or does it also spill unto the final mix?
Many questions!! :O)

Hi,
I'm working with the Trial version and wonder why Scala freezes when I attempt to import pictures from my HD? It get stuck forever, as if opening a huge directory, but I finally have to reboot, because it goes nowhere.
I go to ADD, then MyComputer, ProgramFiles, target to the directory where my pictures are I want to use... and it just won't work anymore.
I should know about the DEMO?
Thanks for any help,
Andre

Hi,
Thanks for the reply! Is there a demo I can watch somewhere? Or download? I'd like to have an idea of the level of quality. Any suggestion?

Still pictures for a slide show
Hi,
I have been contacted by a photographer to create music for CD presentation of over 800 of his photographs. The creation of the presentation would be a joint effort as well, and we live in different countries.
Looking for a software that could embed the final mix so the pictures and music can't be taken out, I've been suggested that SCALA might be the software to consider.
1- Could it?
2- How user-friendly is it?
3- And could we make DVD presentations out of the master?
4- How is sound quality with SCALA? Can we have surround?
5- What would be the package we'd need and what kind of investment would that be?
6- Can a company share the same copy of SCALA within different employees?
7- THANKS!! :O)
