Thanks... I had to use a couple of tools to really remove flash9, then for good measure used ccleaner and a quick search of the registry to make sure it was non-existant.

Flash 8 was the ticket. works fine now.

Here's a photo of what I mean... it doesn't even do the issue justice. when looking head-on, the text that overlaps the left and right monitors are quite confusing.

I have quite a bit of experience doing panoramic displays using a variety of hardware. I really like the Matrox Triple Head 2 Go. I only used it with Infochannel as a quick and dirty test. Works well (depending on the kind of content you're playing) but IC will need a pretty beefy machine as it has some of it's own overhead.

I have gotten away with 800x600 x3horizontal = 2400x600 with a p4 2.8ghz in a small form factor micro-atx set up using VJ tools (Resolume) to play back quicktimes. worked great, cpu utilization stayed around 80-90% using mjpeg codec.

To do this within Infochannel, I suggest a core2duo, doesn't have to be the fastest, I'm using a Dell Optiplex 745 with a quad screen set up. i forget the cpu speed, will find out later when i go into the office. I'm also using the PICvideo mjpeg codec by Pegasus. great codec. also worth mentioning, the video clips (some rather long) are playing back from a dedicated sata drive so throughput isn't an issue (not that I had any problems playing back from the system drive, i decided to future proof the set up by adding a dedicated drive though)

Where are you located? just curious because I'd be happy to show you some of the panoramic installations I've done if you're close to the NY area.

Good Luck!

Hi guys... I installed both on one machine, worked fine. Installed both on the machine which is actually installed onsite - problem. Flash is working within a web browser but not within IC3. I get the centered flash logo with a link to download the plugin.

Any suggestions?

in the past i installed Camtasia as it comes with a different flash installer which seems to have better luck with associated .swf's system wide. I tried that on the machine in question and I didn't even get the option, I guess camtasia sees that i have Flash installed already. Thanks again guys.

I have a 2x2 videowall made of 4 42" plasma's. Everything works like a charm at a res of 2048x1536 except for one thing - I have created some pages whereby a receptionist can edit a text file to update dynamic text on the lobby videowall. I placed my text so that the wordwrap looks proper between the top and bottom plasma's, however, the text overlaps the plasma's from left to right.

I was wondering if I could create tab stop regions or special margins that won't cause word wrap but define the appropriate text areas. Thanks!

I'll add a photo later today to show what I mean. I realize the description above is kind fo hard to visualize.

ok, After talking to NEC, they said that Hyperterminal (as well as other term programs that "act" like Hyperterminal are known to NOT work). The tech support guy pointed me to a remarkable rs232 control app that has internal support for many devices, including my NEC Plasma.

I simply downloaded the NEC profiles, and was able to copy the correct codes out of it. this program offered ALL the codes of interest in a very easy to read/test way. The codes worked in Infochannel without a problem (ofcourse after replacing spaces with ^x's)

I considered this program a MUST HAVE for Scala users controlling devices, even if it is offered by a Scala competitor :)

Hey guys, thanks in advance for the help...

I created a new thread here because I searched the forum for serial control - it seems some folks are keen on giving help through direct email. I suggest everyone post their hints so it lives forever in the archives!

I am successfully controlling devices like my cross-point switcher. Once tech support helped me with the ^x formatting, it was a breeze. However, I am TOTALLY stumped with these NEC 42xm5 plasma screens. The rs232 codes seem to be the same for many other models. It looks straightforward enough, but it seems I have NO communication. HELP!!! I'm thoroughly frustrated.

I'm using docklight as my terminal. baud rate and other settings seem to be fine, and i'm using a null modem cable.

9FH 80H 60H 4FH 00H CKS should turn the screen off. I tried formatting this everywhich way possible.

if anyone can offer a suggestion...pleeease do.

I'm told by my var, "Content Manager must be included or hosted."

is this true? if so, it makes the total software package cost over $8500! please tell me i'm not forced to buy Content Manager.

thanks.

invisible won't be necessary... I'll just go with one instance of Designer and Player. Thanks for your help Marvin!

by the way, this dos based .bat file worked as well:

MODE COM5:9600,N,8,1>NUL
ECHO ^>^x^5^a^5^b^ >COM5

I can't seem to figure out what the string should be for the serial.ex

Posted: Sunday, 03/18/2007 -- by Al. Subject: need serial help, think my string format is wrong

I haven't done this in ages, i know there is some trial and error the first time out...

I am controlling a "Contemporary Research AV6x4" cross-point av matrix switcher. It's working fine via hyperterminal and another term program called docklight. The device speaks ascii, which failed from IC3, so I tried formatting it a few ways (monitored the serial port to get the hex conversion)... Here's what I tried from IC3:

ascii: >x5a5b
hex: 3E 78 35 61 35 62 0D 0A
hex: 3E^78^35^61^35^62^0D^0A

any suggestions?
thanks.

Posted: Saturday, 03/17/2007 -- by Al. Subject: must I use Net manager for 1 player?

Hello. I want to make sure of something. I am currently making a decision between the purchase of IC3+player or IC5+player. this is a pretty simple integration, as simple as you can imagine with a little scheduling thrown into the mix.

I am guessing I only need designer and player, correct? must i purchase net manager for the integration outlined above?

also, is there any argument for taking IC3 over IC5? IC5 is roughly $300 cheaper through my var.

Thanks.
