Other threads have clarified that only QT3 files will work with Scala. But I have no idea how to identify QT3 files, and distinguish them from other .mov files. How would I go about this?
Because it is too old a standard and it does not support nice encodings such as the latest MP4 standards.
I have read somewhere that it is possible to find DirectShow filters for recent version of the Quicktime codecs but as they would not be distributed by Apple, it would probably be from a dubious source. However, if this is the case, installing those filters would let Scala use any mov files. (Provided you have the latest version of Scala 7.1 which contains some improvement in the video replay component).
