All,
Have had luck getting rid of slight glitches in fades and crawls by changing the priority of MMOS at runtime under WIN2K/XP (Task Manager -> Processes Tab -> Set Priority). Have run on several hardware configurations with no ill effects. Especially nice if you have background apps to build the content you display. The question is if there is an unpublished setting (in MMOS.ini?) to bump up the priority automatically? To paraphrase Martha, it seems "like a good thing" (or a setting in the configuration screens of Designer/iPlay/Player).
When playing with process priorities you can starve important background processes--e.g. network, modem, audio, etc.
It would be better to have a adiquate and correctly configured system than to mess around with the priorities. [if you do wish to change the base priority of an executable, Microsoft provides a tool to enable this on the Win2K/XP installation CDROM--RT*M...]
The correct approach:
Use a Dual CPU or single-CPU-HyperThreaded system. [Win2Ksp4 will provide the best performance even on an HT system!] If a system is a physical "DUAL CPU" machine--disable HT. There is little/no advantage 4 Virtual CPU's--and the extra kernel overhead required to synch. 4 CPU's can actually slow down the execution of some programs!!!
Use a system that supports dual-bank DDR-SDRAM.
Get the best quality DDR-DRAM you can that is compatible with your system. [The difference between DDR333 CL2.5 and DDR400 CL2.0 is on the order of 40%+ reduction in frame copy times]
Use an AGP 8X graphics card on an AGP 8X AGP Motherboard. [some motherboards will only enable AGP 8X if both banks of DRAM are active]

Some of what you say makes sense, we will take a look at the DRAM, the rest is not possible for our application.
where does one find and edit this MMOS.ini file...i have looked in my MM200 ICD ICD3 folders with no success.
Also when i launch my ICD3 program, is it using only the files in he ICD3 folder, or using some from all the installations?
The audio on my new powerful laptop skips when some transitions take place in my show, however this is not consistent it varies each time the show is placed. I have XP SP2 , all the latest ATI drivers...audio card is a Cmedia
