I need the product documentation to learn how to use serial.ex to power on/off the LCD display at specific time intervals. I have the following scala apps installed on our field systems:
Scala Player 3. Any help you can provide would be appreciated.
Hi Tim,
did you ever consider to use a small windows command line application (from within scala or the windows scheduler) to do the task. If you don't know how to do, please contact me. chris.schumacher@ish.de
Chris
I have been writing a program to talk to SONY displays so we can do simple stuff like "are you on?" "turn off" "turn on" "set your time"
It has a simple command line interface like "goat on" "goat status" and automatically finds its tv's. At the moment, its very rough around the edges and needs to learn to speak SHARP too. (Sony is binary protocol, sharp is text).
If anyone is brave enough to try it against their SONY LCDs and wants a copy, I'd appreciate the feedback ^^;
Peter, Id be interested in trying your program, we have both sony and sharp LCD's I can test with. In the past we have had little success with communicating with displays, perhaps your program is an answer?
I created a simple page for it, you can find it here: http://goat.manga.org/
the version there is today's version, very much a work in progress I am afraid.
Currently this works with SONY FWD-40LX1 and SHARP PN-465,

Hi,
a couple of years ago we developed a similar command line tool that is already used on approx 1200 Scala players. The tool is for remote control and diagnostics.
It has ability to produce a log file containing each instance/request and an error.log, written on demand to IC.log for easy recognition in Netmanager3 / Contentmanager5.
The tool is working with NEC/Mitsubishi LCD3000/4000, NEC 3010, NEC 4010, NEC 4020 and NEC Multeos (other screens on request).
A demo version with "power on"/"power off" enabled is avaible at info[at]playdata[dot]de
If you just want to switch on/off a screen or projector using serial EX
directly from Scala (and don't need to have additional information), the set up very simple.
Cheers,
Thomas Eschenburg
