TV Tuner EX

Monday, 03/05/2007 -- by Anthony. Subject: TV Tuner EX

has anyone used the Leadtek WinFast TV2000 XP Expert tv tuner card in conjuction with the TV Tuner EX? Has there been any issues? Does it work fine? I am asking this because I added a tv clip into a presentation, followed the instructions to the T and get this error when i try to preview it.

Error: 304.7
Rendering graph for "TV Tuner"
DirectShow Error(80040217)
No combination of intermediate filters
could be found to make connection

Honestly this is really messing with me, I have had so many issues with just trying to get a simple video window with a tv feed into a scala presentation. Am I the only one experiencing these issues???

If you can't get this to work with the TV EX and don't mind having Scala play in windowed-mode (you can hide borders, so don't worry) I could send you a programme I made to solve the problem of not beiing able to use ANY tv-card on the market. I just puts a layer on top of Scala (at the coordinates you wish) for the time you wish.
It works with webcams too.

But first try to solve this with Scala, it will be better integrated and offers some advantages over 3rd-party solutions.

Hi Marvin,

as it is right now, I'm waiting on another tv tuner card to come in, but if it doesnt work, is there an email address that you can be reached at, or do you check this forum regularly? Here's my email address if you don't want to post yours on here anthony@nationwideav.com. Thank you for your help.

This class of DirectShow error generally happen under one of the hallowing conditions:

(1) Improper/incomplete system device driver installation--the motherboard chipset or the graphics card drivers are the most probable area at issue.

(2) A corrupted installation of DirectShow. The classic cause would be the use of "3rd Party/Video-Freak" CODEC's: DivX/XviD; 3vid; etc.

The best suggestion would be:

A positively clean, freshly formatted HD installation of XPProsp2. The proper installation of Chipset, Video, Audio, Lan, etc. WHQL-certified device drivers. Windows Update--Critical Hotfixes. Avoid WMP10, WMP11, IE7.

Work with your Scala VAR. It might be most appropriate for you to purchase a correctly configured PC/"Whitebox" system from your VAR rather than attempting IT/System configuration-work.

Hi Anthony, you can contact me at marvin at pthgroep dot nl.

But please follow John's tips first, DirectShow is most likely the reason for your problems.
