Will the Intel GMA 950 graphics work adequate as a low end player. I know there was some memory leakage issues with the 945. Is there a difference between the two and have there differences been tested.
Thanks,
Bryan
A quick lesson in marketing:
GMA900 == Intel i915G chipset.
GMA950 == Intel i945G chipset.
GMA3000 == Intel i965G chipset.
GMA3100 == Intel G33 chipset. (also the Q33--which does not work well!)
GMA3500 == Intel G35 chipset.
In effect--Intel does not have a very good track record. There have been substantial improvements starting with the G33--with the exception of the Q33. [a progression from totally useless to "adequate"] Long term stability remains to be seen.
Intel Integrated Graphics are a bit like "Carp" or "Lutefisk"--flesh that one would only eat if one were starving--and there were no suitable "donors" available for the Andean option ...

John, Do you have any comment on the AMD (aka ATI) on-board video chipset called M690G?
I found a review at URL: http://www.techpowerup.com/printreview.php?id=/AMD/690_Chipset
but was interested in your opinion.
Thx.
Jeff
We have been "recommending" ATi and NVIDIA Integrated Graphics Processor chipsets about as long has we have been discouraging Intel, SiS, and VIA IGP chipsets.
The Previous generation ATi parts--the RS3## and the RS4##'s [410, 412, 415, 480, 482, 85]--A.K.A. "ATi RADEON Xpress"/ "R.X. 11##'s" were excellent.
Testing of the various RS690G/V/T's, (A.K.A. "Radeon Xpress 12##'s"), is still ongoing. They are stable--but not yet performing as well as they should be--I expect device driver optimization issues. There will be a new replacement ATi IGP in January--the RS78#-series.
The NVIDIA GeForce 6150, 7050, and 7150 are also very good.
