Definition of CD-ROM

CD-ROM (Compact Disc Read Only Memory)
a compact disc containing up to 650 megabytes of information that can be read only from a CD-ROM drive. Audio CDs can be played on both CD players and many CD-ROM drives, but a CD-ROM cannot be used on a CD player.
